A magnified photo of a contaminated
read / write head
Photo Detail: The two upper
wires leading to the head carry the write signal, the lower
two carry the read signal. The wires carrying the signal have
been placed side by side to minimize any Electro Magnetic
Interference. The read and write circuits are then symmetrically
layered into the head.
Data recovery: This kind of
contamination is very common when the head suspension becomes
damaged due to
vertical platter vibration.
R&D has proved that where once the data on this drive
was lost, recoveries can now be performed.
